How to Solve Footle Faster: 7 Football Wordle Tips
Footle gives you ten guesses to name a mystery footballer using clues on club, league, nationality, position, age and rating. Ten sounds like plenty — until you waste four of them on random names. Here's how to solve it in as few guesses as possible.
1. Open with a versatile, well-known player
Your first guess should gather information, not try to win. A famous player from one of the big five leagues instantly tells you the league (green or gold), the rough position, the nationality region and — via the arrows — whether the mystery rating and age are higher or lower. Save the clever guesses for later.
2. Treat gold as gold dust
A gold league tile means the mystery player is in that league but at a different club. That single clue narrows the field enormously — your next guess should be another club in the same league.
3. Chase the arrows on age and rating
If the rating arrow points down, don't guess someone rated higher next. The arrows are the fastest way to close in: each guess should move in the direction they point.
4. Stack your greens
Once an attribute turns green, every future guess should keep it. If you know the mystery player is a Premier League defender, don't guess a Serie A midfielder — you're throwing a guess away.
5. Combine three clues to shrink the pool
League plus position plus nationality usually leaves only a handful of possible players. When you have all three, stop guessing loosely and think: who fits all of these?
6. Use position as a tiebreaker
Two players can share a club, league and nation but play very different roles. Position often separates the final candidates — read that tile carefully.
7. Don't panic-guess
You have ten tries; a five-second pause to reread your tiles is worth more than a rushed guess. Most solved games use fewer than six.
