About PitchWits
PitchWits is a free collection of four daily football games and puzzles, built for fans who think they know ball. There are no accounts, no downloads and no paywalls — you just open the site in any browser, on phone, tablet or desktop, and play. Our aim is simple: give football fans a quick, clever daily habit worth sharing with the group chat.
The four games
Every day PitchWits gives you something new to solve, plus two games you can replay as much as you like:
- Footle — a football version of Wordle. Guess the mystery footballer in ten tries, using clues on club, league, nationality, position, age and rating. A fresh mystery player is set every day. Read the full guide.
- Connections — sort sixteen footballers into four hidden groups of four, but watch out for the players who look like they fit more than one group. A new grid drops daily. Read the full guide.
- Tier Drop — drag random players from World Class down to Pub Team and see how close your ranking lands to the consensus. Read the full guide.
- Transfer Roulette — you're the sporting director. Spin players at their real market value, decide if they're worth the fee with their ratings hidden, and build the best possible eleven without busting the budget. Read the full guide.
How the daily puzzles work
Footle and Connections refresh once a day at 00:00 GMT. That means everyone around the world plays the exact same puzzle on the same day — so you can compare scores with a friend in another country and know you both faced an identical challenge. When the clock ticks over to midnight GMT, yesterday's answer is retired and a brand-new one takes its place. Transfer Roulette and Tier Drop aren't tied to the clock; you can play a fresh round whenever you like.
Share your result
Each game ends with a clean, screenshot-ready result card and a shareable emoji grid — the green and gold squares that show how you did without spoiling the answer. Post it, tag a mate and challenge them to beat your score. Half the fun of a daily puzzle is the bragging rights.
Independent and fan-made
PitchWits is an independent project, made by a football fan rather than a big studio. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by EA Sports, FIFA, any league, club or player. The player names, positions, ratings and market values used in the games are publicly available facts, used purely for informational and entertainment purposes. We don't use official club logos, crests, kits or photographs.
