How to Play Transfer Roulette

Transfer Roulette puts you in the sporting director's chair. You have a fixed transfer budget of £425m and eleven slots to fill, but there's a catch: player ratings are hidden. You spin real players at their real market value and have to decide, on reputation alone, whether each one is worth the fee — before the game reveals how good your eleven really is. Play Transfer Roulette here.

The goal

Build the best possible starting eleven without busting your budget. Because ratings are hidden while you shop, the skill is judging value: spotting who's worth their price tag and who's overpriced.

How to play, step by step

  • Tap a position on the pitch — you're filling a balanced 4-3-3 formation.
  • The game spins up a player for that slot, showing their name and market value but not their rating.
  • Decide: Buy them for the fee, or Pass and spin again for a different option.
  • Keep signing players until all eleven positions are filled and you've stayed under the £425m budget.
  • Hit Finish team to reveal every player's hidden rating, your overall squad score and a verdict.

The catch — value versus fee

Every decision is a gamble on value. A £90m name might be a genuine world-beater, or an overpriced disappointment. A cheaper, less glamorous signing might quietly be excellent value. Spend big early and you may not have enough left to fill the spine of your team; pass too often and you might get stuck with slim pickings.

Strategy tips

  • Budget the whole eleven, not one star. £425m across eleven players averages under £40m each — blow half your budget on one signing and the rest of the team suffers.
  • Fill the spine first. A solid goalkeeper, centre-backs, a midfield anchor and a striker matter most. Lock in value there before splurging on flair.
  • Reputation is a clue, not a guarantee. Big names are usually well rated, but the fun is catching the overpriced ones and the bargains.
  • Don't be afraid to pass. If a player feels too expensive for what they offer, spin again — but remember every pass is a small gamble too.
  • Balance the side. A team of expensive attackers with a weak defence will score poorly overall.

Share your squad

When you finish, you get a final team sheet, an overall score and a verdict — from "Title Winners" to "Sacked by Christmas". Screenshot it and challenge a mate to build a better eleven from the same budget.
